Sra. Paula Almanza Compean

SRA. PAULA ALMANZA COMPEAN PHARR – Sra. Paula Almanza Compean, 81, entered eternal rest Thursday, November 5, 2014, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg. Mrs. Compean was born on January 1, 1933 in Alamo, to Jose and Beatriz Almanza. Paula was a very hard worker; she helped run her parents store in Alamo. After her husband passed away she became both father and mother to her nine children. She cherished every moment with her children and especially her grandkids. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hilario Compean, Sr.; her parents, Jose and Beatriz Almanza; two brothers, Guadalupe and Juan Almanza; two nephews, Jason Mark and Michael A.Sierra; and two sisters-in-law, Margarita Romero and Cruz Almanza. Left to cherish her memory is her nine children, Hilario (Lila) Compean, Jr., Maricela (Hector) Escobedo, Roberto (Rosa) Compean, Esmeralda Compean, Rosario (Daniel) Guzman, Diana (Homero) Villarreal, Letisia (Rudy) Guajardo, Zeferino (Elma) Compean and Mario (Diana) Compean; a sister, Margarita Almanza; two brothers, Jose Abelardo (Santos) Almanza and Acension Almanza; numerous grandchildren, Jessica (L.P.) Elizondo, Jacob and Isaac Escobedo, Bobby and Xavier Compean, Homero Villarreal, Jr., Karina and Alex Guzman, Zac and Mikey Compean, Isaiah Compean; a great-grandchild, Evelyn Elizondo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with at 7 p.m. rosary Friday, November 7, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in San Juan. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.cf
