DOROTEO L. CORDERO, JR. EDINBURG - Doroteo L. Cordero, Jr., 67, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Plainview, TX, Mr. Cordero had lived in Edinburg most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. Doroteo loved the Dallas Cowboys. He proudly helped with the Edinburg Pony Baseball Association from 1976 to 1991. Doroteo was a member of the Kiwanis, and also donated his time to the Hidalgo County Child Welfare Board and the Rainbow Room. Mr. Cordero was employed at Gateway Printing and Office Supply, Inc. for 43 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Doroteo and Maria Cordero. Doroteo is survived by his wife, Maria M. Cordero of Edinburg; two children Carrie L. Cordero of Pharr and Christopher G. (Lindsay) Cordero of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Giuliana Ortiz of Pharr and Katelyn Cordero of Austin, TX; two brothers, David Muños of Lubbock, TX and Doel Cordero of Dumas, TX; two sisters, Rosalinda Hernandez of McAllen and Dorothy LaFuente of Brady, TX; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
