Alfredo “La Coneja” Cortez
EDINBURG – Alfredo “La Coneja” Cortez, 82, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at McAllen Medical Center.
Born in Edinburg, Mr. Cortez had lived there most of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Cortez; his parents, Esteban and Santos Cortez; a brother, Raul Cortes; and a sister, Maria Cano.
Mr. Cortez is survived by four daughters, Rachel (Amador) Calzada of Chigaco, Illinos, Velma (Adrian) Lopez of Donna, Cindy Rodriguez and Tina (Shannon) Donihoo both of Edinburg, four sons, David (Rafaela) Cortez of McAllen, Juan Cortez of Austin, Freddy Crotez of Austin, Texas and Rolando (Elsa) Cortez of Edinburg; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a sister, Francisca Cruz.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. today, July 13, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
