MELISSA YVONNE CRUZ EDINBURG – Melissa Yvonne Cruz, 34, died Sunday, August 23, 2015, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas. Melissa was a family oriented woman and a caring friend to many. Mrs. Cruz was passionate about helping others. She loved the beach and fishing. In her free time, Melissa designed unique jewelry. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived in death by her husband of 14 years, Edward Cruz of Edinburg; three children, Desiree Garcia, Edward Cruz Jr., and Meledy Cruz all of McAllen; her mother, Lydia Carrillo of McAllen; father, Hector Flores of Zapata; 3 brothers, Jorge Flores, Frank Carrillo, John Carrillo of McAllen; and maternal grandmother, Elena Saenz of Zapata. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
