RICARDO "JR" CRUZ, JR.
McALLEN - Ricardo "JR" Cruz, Jr., our truly beloved and charming "JR" went to meet our Savior and all the angels in heaven on July 19, 2009.
He was born on November 5, 1987, in Grand Prairie, Texas. "JR" is the son of Ricardo Cruz of Dallas and Marilu Trevino Cruz of McAllen, a brother to Idoluis (Esmeralda) Salinas, and the most loveable uncle to Destini and Layla, all of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Our adorable and loveable "JR" attended public schools in Grand Prairie, and graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in 2006, where he played football for the South Grand Prairie Warriors. "JR" attended Southwest Harvest Church in Duncanville, Texas, and was a member of the Christian dance team, The Royal Priests. Recently, he had volunteered at St. John's Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School in San Juan.
After graduating in 2006, "JR" and his mother relocated to McAllen where he attended South Texas College. Within a short period of time, "JR" made new friends at school and work that looked to and for him. He loved Hip Hop and Christian music and was such a delight to see him whip out the most admirable moves. "JR" was a confident and charming young man who was full of life. He had an amazing charisma about him that brought happiness to those who knew him. "JR" loved live, his family, his friends, football, basketball, Michael Jordan, music, poker, and dancing. He was an attentive and devoted son to his mother. He was the ideal, most caring, incredible, reliable, understanding, and awesome son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend.
Our gem shined above all. His eyes and his spirit reflected a radiance of goodness. His touch was healing and his heart was big and unselfish. He gifted people of all ages with comfort, humor, warmth, and understanding. "JR" was admired and loved so dearly and deeply by all his family and friends both in north and south Texas. We are very saddened to have lost him so soon and unexpectedly, but take comfort in knowing that "JR" has entered God's Kingdom and is glorifying our Father who for a while let us hold His gem in our hands.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Magdalena "Magala" Casares Trevino of Pharr; and paternal grandparents, Ruperto and Josefina Cruz of McAllen.
"JR" is survived by his mother and father, Marilu Trevino Cruz of McAllen, and Ricardo Cruz of Dallas, Texas; a devoted brother, Idoluis Salinas; a loving sister-in-law, Esmeralda; two "cutie patootie" nieces, Destini and Layla, all of Grand Prairie, Texas; his maternal grandfather, Eliud Trevino of San Juan; maternal aunts and uncles, Cynthia (Rolando) Pena of Pharr, Zonia (Rolando) Ayala of McAllen; Omar (Debbie) Trevino of San Juan and Eliud (Sonny) Trevino, Jr. of Falls Church, Virginia; paternal aunts and uncles, Ruperto (Gloria) Cruz, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Rogelio (Melda) Cruz of Grand Prairie, Texas, Zulema (Eduardo) Lugo of San Juan, Dolores Cruz of Edinburg, Mari Rodriguez of San Juan; and 21 cousins.
