EDINBURG - Santos A. Davila, 78, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at his residence in Edinburg.
Born in La Sara, TX, Santos had lived in Edinburg most of his life. Santos served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. He retired after 30 years of service with Texas Department of Transportation. He lived his life as a rancher and devoted husband and father. Santos will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas and Paula Davila.
Santos is survived by his wife of 61 years, Guadalupe Davila of Edinburg; a daughter, Diana (Marco) Martinez of Edinburg; two grandchildren Daniel N. Gutierrez of US Navy Hawaii and Clarissa M. Gutierrez of Edinburg; five siblings, Zoila Ramirez of Edinburg, Juan Davila of Middlebury, IN, Yolanda Jimenez of Elsa, Josephina Ortiz of Edinburg, and Nicolas Davila of Hargill; and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Valle De La Paz Cemetery in Hargill.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
