Gerardo De La Cerda

On Wednesday, October 10, 2018, Gerardo De La Cerda, husband and father of two, went to our Lord at the age of 48. Born on August 17, 1970 in Peru, Indiana, he married Alma De La Cerda on January 22, 1989. Together they raised two children, and were happily married for 29 years. Gerardo, better known as Jerry, enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, barbecuing and spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was always the life of the party at all family gatherings and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo De La Cerda, Sr.
Mr. De La Cerda is survived by his beloved wife, Alma De La Cerda; his mother, Guadalupe De La Cerda; his children, Brittany De La Cerda and Alyssa (Jorge) De La Cerda, all of Pharr; three grandchildren, Ariana De La Cerda, Matthew De La Cerda and Cristian Martinez; two brothers, Rodolfo (Elda) De La Cerda, Jr. of San Juan, Eduardo (Melissa) De La Cerda of Houston; two sisters, Maricela (Martin) Fonseca of San Juan and Elizabeth (Jose) Yglesias of San Antonio.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, October 12, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
We lost a loving father and husband, but the Lord has gained an angel.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
