ASCENCION DE LA GARZA
EDINBURG - Ascencion De La Garza, 89, died Monday, January 4, 2016, at her daughter’s residence in McAllen.
Born in McAllen, Mrs. De La Garza had lived in Edinburg all of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Eustacio De La Garza; a son, Ricardito De La Garza; her parents, Geronimo and Amanda Martinez; a brother, Roberto Martinez; and two sisters, Aracelia Alviar and Rose Peralez.
Mrs. De La Garza is survived by five children, Maria (Jose) Aldape of Edinburg, Anacleto (Esther) De La Garza of Las Vegas, Eliodoro (Martha) De La Garza, Hector (Adrianna) De La Garza, Yrma (Carlos) Guerra, all of McAllen; nine grandchildren, Javier, Jessica, Marizza, Tom J., Martin, Orlando, Marinna, Ylianna, Ysabella; and two sisters, Angelica (Jose) Santoyo of North Carolina and Anita (Julian) Fragoso of Edinburg.
A special thanks to all the nurses and staff of Cima Hospice to her physician, Dr. Luis Delgado and to all her personal caretakers, Mari Tavarez and Mari Guzman for their devotion and great care of our mom.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
