PHARR - Aroldo "Harold" De Leon, 81, went home to our Lord Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Mr. De Leon was born and lived in Pharr all his life. He met his high school sweetheart, Angelica Aranda, their Senior year in 1959, and they were married in 1961. After serving in the Army, he was honorably discharged and decided to continue his military service in the Texas National Guard. Master Sergeant Aroldo De Leon retired from the military in 1991. He also worked at Texas State Technical College as a Master Mechanic Instructor and retired from TSTC in 2000.
Aroldo has left a great legacy. He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Pharr and most recently at First Baptist Church in McAllen. He was a great Husband, Father, and Grandfather and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Aroldo is now rejoicing with our Lord.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Loreto De Leon Sr.; mom, Maria Irma De Leon; sister, Maria Nellie Medina; and brother, Loreto De Leon Jr.
Mr. De Leon is survived by his loving wife, Angelica De Leon of Pharr; five children, Aroldo Oscar De Leon Jr. of Pharr, Maria Irma Platz of Edinburg, Albert De Leon of Houston, Maria Elena (Loren) Nelson of Mission, Alejandro (Kristen) De Leon of Mercedes; four grandchildren, John Platz, Marlena Nelson, Albert De Leon Jr., Jalyssa De Leon; two sisters, Juanita Escobar of Edinburg, and Nora Izaguirre of Arlington.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. celebration of life service Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2021, at First Baptist Church in McAllen. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW post 8788 of McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
