LORETO “LARRY” DE LEON, JR.
PHARR – Loreto “Larry” De Leon, Jr., 69, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Born in Pharr, he lived there most of his life. He graduated from P.S.J.A., and served in the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1969. Loreto moved to Aurora, Illinois where he worked at General Mills in West Chicago for 15 years. He came back to the Valley and opened up a restaurant in Edinburg and also worked for Office Depot in McAllen. Larry was a wonderful father, brother and friend who was loved by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Loreto De Leon, Sr.; and a sister, Maria Nellie Medina.
Mr. De Leon is survived by his two children, Adrianna Marie De Leon of Alamo, Andrew Vicente De Leon of Pharr; three grandchildren, Jaiden Kai, Andrew Isaiah, and Nathan De Leon; three siblings, Aroldo “Harold” (Angelica) De Leon of Pharr, Nora Izaguirre of Arlington, Texas, Juanita (Santos) Escobar of Edinburg; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in San Juan. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Military honor will be conducted by American Legion Post 93.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
