EDINBURG - Irene De Leon Maciel, 87, of Edinburg, Texas, entered eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 25, 2016.
She was born in Los Herreras, N.L. to the late Jose Salinas and Agapita De Leon on September 29, 1928.
A homemaker all her life, she cared for and nurtured not only her seven children (after their father’s passing in 1985) but eight of her grandchildren as well. Irene is survived by her five daughters, Maria A. Maciel, Norma S. Maciel, Gloria Caceres (Ramiro Caceres), Yolanda Villescas (Xavier Villescas) and Leticia Diaz (Terry Perez); two sons, Manuel H. Maciel and Miguel A. Maciel (Roxanne Maciel). She also leaves behind the stars that made her eyes shine, her loving grandchildren, Mirta Flores (Donny), Manuel Maciel III, Veronica Alfaro, Juan Carlos Caceres, Deena Lopez (Steven), Jaime Villescas, Bianca Hernandez (Agustin), Omar L. Diaz, Aaron M. Diaz, Michael A. Maciel, Alexandria J. Maciel and Marc A. Maciel; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Herlinda Salinas; and her compadres, Gilberto and Genoveva Salinas.
Special thanks to cousin Rosa Alaniz and her long time caretaker, Rosa Gonzalez.
