Mina Delgado

PHARR - Mina Delgado, 84, died Thursday, September 8, 2016, at her residence in Pharr. Born in Peñitas, she had lived in Pharr since 1967 and was formerly of Alamo.

She is preceded in death by three children, Juan Angel Delgado, Maria O. Rodriguez, Jesus Delgado; her parents, Severo Vargas and Adelaida Alvarado; two sisters, Candida Ramirez, Rosa Escobedo; and a brother, Ramon Vargas.

Mina is survived by five children, Maria (†Jose) Villanueva, Jose Alfredo Delgado Sr., both of Pharr, Ricardo (Molly Omara) Delgado of Bristol, New Hampshire, Maria G. (Julian) Escamilla of Holland, Michigan, Ramon (Florinda) Delgado Sr. of Donna; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jose Vargas of Alamo, Roberto Vargas of Pharr.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, September 9, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
