SUSAN "FLORINE" DIETZ
MISSION - Susan “Florine” Dietz, 92, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior. She died peacefully surrounded by her two children and her five grandchildren on January 14, 2017, at The Comfort House in McAllen.
She was born on September 2, 1924 in Robstown, TX. Florine was always an avid learner, always eager to read and learn more. She received her master’s degree and put it to use as a special education teacher until her retirement. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mission for many years. She was a member of the Mission Study Club, Library Club and very involved in politics. Traveling, history, and reading were among her favorite things, but most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. She was blessed with a large family that included multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a slew of cousins ranging from a few months of age to late eighty’s.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sterling “Doc” Dietz; her parents; and siblings.
Florine is survived by her son, Sterling “Chuck” (Jo Ann) Dietz of Alice, TX; daughter, Elizabeth (Al) Parker of Mission; five grandchildren, Sterling “Eric” (Natalie) Dietz of Bryan, TX, James (Tanya) Golden Jr. of Hellertown, PA, Kimberly Golden (Elbert Avendano) of Mission, Tara (Pat) Harris of Atlanta, GA, and Dylan Dietz of Atlanta, GA, four beautiful great-grandchildren, Adam, Alyssa, Emma, and Abygail.
Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church located at 1102 Ash Dr, Mission, TX.
