ELIDA SANDOVAL

SAN JUAN- Elida Campos Sandoval, 87, died Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gustavo Sandoval, Jr.; her mother, Juana Campos; and a sister, Herlinda Sanchez.

Mrs. Sandoval is survived by her four children, San Juanita Sandoval, Gustavo (Olga) Sandoval III, Ricardo (Imelda) Sandoval, Lauri Ann (Jeffrey) Torres; six grandchildren, Jessica Sandoval Dye, Erica Nicole Sandoval, Alexandria Danielle Trevino, Mark Eric Sandoval, Jeffrey Nathaniel Torres, Lauren Adeline Torres; and four great-grandchildren.

Elida was born in Goliad, Texas but spent most of her life in Pharr and San Juan, Texas. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elida passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and loved ones. Although she enjoyed life, she was comforted knowing that one day she would be reunited with her husband and sister in heaven due to her strong religious beliefs. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, annual family vacations, her occasional trips to the casino and Friday afternoon shopping and restaurant outings. She loved spending time with family and will always be remembered for her giving nature. We will miss her comforting words and prayers during our times of need and her goodbye kisses and the sign of the cross we always got before we left. Her final years only brought us closer to her as her children took turns taking care of her at their home resulting in lasting memories we will always cherish and keep close to our hearts.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
