ANA MARIA "ANITA" ELIZONDO
PHARR - Ana Maria "Anita" Elizondo, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
She was born to the late Liborio Cortes and Delfina Cavazos on July 26, 1923. She was united in marriage to Enrique Elizondo on October 27, 1946 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2010. They were married for over 60 blissful years.
Anita was the oldest of the Cortes sisters, an admirable woman who was wise and taught us that age has no factor in being able to accomplish anything we set our hearts and mind to do. She was a beautiful and caring person who loved to cook for all who visited her, and was loved and admired by many nieces and nephews. Anita was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Guadalupe and Manuel Cortes; and three sisters, Bertha Rendon, Maria Concepcion "Maruca" Hernandez and Delfina Cortez, all of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
Mrs. Elizondo is survived by her two sons, Enrique G. Elizondo and Cesar H. (Gloria) Elizondo; two granddaughters, Gloria (Carlos) Guerra, Ayde (Edgar) Hinojosa; five great-grandchildren, Rogelio, Cesar, Giselle, Edgar and Karla, all of Pharr; and two sisters, Paula Lozano, Mithala Leal, both of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. memorial service Friday, November 16, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
