GLORIA MARIA ELIZONDO
McALLEN - Gloria Elizondo, 79, passed away Monday, August 1, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Elizondo is preceded in death by her parents Amadeo and Justina San Martin, sister Epifania Bernal and Leobardo San Martin from Ebano,San Luis Potosi Mexico. She was born in Ozuluama, Veracruz, Mexico and had lived in McAllen most of her life.
Gloria leaves her beloved husband of 62 years, Rodrigo Elizondo Sr.; her children, Blanca (Henry) Sanchez of Sharyland, Christy (Charlie) Baldazo of McAllen, Rodrigo "Rudy" (Dolly) Elizondo of McAllen, Carlos "Charlie" (Pauline Padron) Elizondo of McAllen, Mitzi (Mario) Valdez of McAllen, Rosy (Gary) DeWulf of Houston; seven grandchildren, Marissa (Corey) Gilbert, Michelle Aguirre, Andy Lopez, Laura (John) Justin, Tom Baldazo, Brandi Valdez, Ashley Valdez; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Jacob Gilbert, Johnny and Bianca Aguirre; eleven step grandchildren; two brothers, Marcos San Martin, Armando San Martin; four sisters, Maria Elena Delgado, Anita Cruz, Sofia San Martin, and Clementina Amaro; in-laws, Oscar Elizondo, Belia Gutierrez, Olga Lea, Elva Benitez, Lydia Campos, and numerous other in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Gloria's biggest pleasure in life was cooking and baking for her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband and enjoyed going to Las Vegas. Gloria and her husband set the gold standard about what true love really is. The love that she gave all of us was her greatest legacy. She was a testament of courage and love and she will always live in our hearts.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary, today, August 3, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
