Edwin Gilbert Ernest, age 86, passed away in Pharr, Tx. on August 15, 2016. Ed was born in Pensacola, FL. On June 23, 1930 to Cecilia and Paul Ernest.
Ed joined the Navy and during his 25 years of service, he received many medals and commendations. During his career he served on the board of Navy Carriers and at several Naval Air Stations. He retired as an Aviation Master Chief.
After retirement from the Navy, Ed worked at the United States Post Office for 10 years and retired on disability due to problems with his back.
After leaving the post office Ed and Terry traveled all over the country for 10 years before settling down in Pharr, Tx.
Ed loved his kitty, Angel, watching dog races, square dancing and playing poker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Theresa Ernest; two sisters, Mary Prosser and Frances Black both of Pensacola; and a brother, Kenneth Ernest of Lexington, SC.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of San Juan.
