NORMA ANN ESCOBAR
EDINBURG – Norma Ann Escobar, 51, went peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
She was born in Mercedes, Texas on October 5, 1958 to Noe and Blanca Escobar.
She is preceded in death by her father, Noe Escobar.
Norma is survived by her mother, Blanca Escobar, of Edinburg; and a brother, Rudy (Linda) Escobar, of Fort Worth, Texas; her niece, Jessika Maier, of Cedar Park, Texas; nephew, Randall Escobar, of Fort Worth, Texas; aunts and uncles, Lucia Romero, Janice Rivera, Mary R. (Gilbert) Dominguez, Angelita (Enrique) Longoria, all of Mercedes, Baldemar Rivera, of Weslaco, Maricela Galvan, of La Feria, Candelario (Minerva) Rivera, of Edinburg; and numerous cousins.
Miss Escobar was a dedicated elementary teacher in the Edinburg School District at Brewster School for 27 years, where she was “Teacher of the Year” in the 2008-2009 school year. During her years at Brewster she touched the lives of many students and fellow co-workers. She dedicated her life to her students who always felt she was not only their teacher, but a loving, caring person who was always there for all their needs during the school day. Her co-workers will truly feel a void at Brewster for it was Norma who spent many hours with extra-curricular activities and always making sure that the team at Brewster always kept their spirits high following their motto, “Pride in the Country”.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service today, December 3, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton, in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 am Friday, December 4, 2009, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be George Romero, Tommy Salinas, Adrian Quintero, Noe Hendrickson, Lupe Romero, John Perez, Henry Longoria III and Aaron Longoria.
A memorial scholarship has been set in Norma's name. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Norma Ann Escobar Memorial Scholarship Fund may be made to the Linn-San Manuel Community Improvement Committee (LSMCIC) at P.O. Box 345, Linn, Texas 78563.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
