JOSE M. ESCOBEDO
ALAMO – Jose M. "El Canalero" Escobedo, 90, died Friday, July 1, 2016, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Born in Galeana, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he had lived in Alamo for 16 years and was a member of Iglesia Cristiana Alianza in Pharr.
He is preceded in death by a son, Juan G. Escobedo; his parents, Julian and Bertha Escobedo; two brothers, Rodrigo Escobedo, Francisco Escobedo; two sisters, Ofelia Banda, Julia Escobedo; a granddaughter, Brenda Salazar; and a great-granddaughter, Raelynn Blue Salazar.
Mr. Escobedo is survived by his wife, Antonia Escobedo; 22 children, Rosa Maria Salazar, Antonio Escobedo, Roberto Escobedo, Sergio Escobedo, Jorge Escobedo, Ruben Escobedo, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Ricardo Escobedo, Jose Escobedo Jr., Bertha Escobedo, Martha Barreiro, Dora Quinn, Rene Escobedo, Delia Martinez, Josefina Perez, Jose Escobedo Jr., Ramiro Escobedo, Julian Escobedo, Minerva Escobedo, Linda Centeno, Norberto Hernandez, Teresa Hernandez; 67 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Minerva Bugarin.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, July 3, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 4, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
