SAN JUAN – Josefina G. Escobedo, 85, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at her residence in San Juan.
Josefina was born in San Juan and had lived there all of her life. She was an active parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan where she was a member of the Legion of Mary. Ms. Escobedo enjoyed attending Amigos Del Valle in San Juan where she was crowned queen on several occasions.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas Gonzalez and San Juana Limas; two sisters, Carmen Gomez, Elidora Hernandez; and former spouse, Jose Escobedo.
Ms. Escobedo is survived by ten children, Maria Bertha Escobedo of South Bay, FL, Marta (Alfredo) Barreiro of McAllen, Dora († Charles R.) Quinn of San Benito, Rene (Ceferina) Escobedo of San Juan, Delia (Domingo) Martinez of McAllen, Josefina (Rodrigo) Perez of Diboll, TX, Jose M. Escobedo of San Juan, Ramiro (Maricruz) Escobedo of Alamo, Julian (Noelia) Escobedo of Clewiston, FL, Minerva (David) Tijerina of Pharr; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Concepcion Aceves of San Juan, Miguel Gonzalez of Lake Placid, FL.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, August 5, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Memorial Cremation Center in Edinburg.
