CELIA ESPINOZA EDINBURG — Celia Espinoza, 69, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Espinoza was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of her life. On September 29, 1961 she married her loving husband ,Ricardo Espinoza. Upon graduating from the University of Texas Pan American, she pursued her career as a teacher working for Edinburg School District for 15 years. She was a long time member of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church. She had a passion for teaching and always thought of others before herself. For this she was greatly loved and appreciated. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmel and Genoveva Lopez. Celia is survived by her husband, Ricardo Espinoza, Sr.; four children, Yolanda (Henry Lee) Cantu, Raul Espinoza both of Edinburg, Ricardo (Elidia) Espinoza, Jr., Roberto (Dr. Cynthia Lopez) Espinoza, both of San Antonio,TX; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Arevalo of Edinburg and Alicia Marroquin of Washington State. Pallbearers will be: Ricardo Gabriel Espinoza, Raul Espinoza Jr., Ruben Espinoza, Eddie Carrillo, Armando Urive and Joaquin Cantu. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, February 3, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. The Espinoza family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Edinburg Regional Medical Center for the care of their mother; also the thoughts and prayers from family, friends and El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church members. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
