FRANCISCO "CISCO" ESTEVIS

Francisco "Cisco" Estevis, 88, went home to our Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at his residence in Edinburg surrounded by his family.
Born on a small farm on Owassa Road near Edinburg, Texas, to parents Francisco Esteves and Petra Rodriguez, Cisco lived most of his life in Edinburg. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1953 and from Pan American College in 1958 where he was a pitcher on the baseball team. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1955. Cisco left to New Mexico to further his education and pursue his dream of becoming a baseball coach. He graduated from New Mexico Highlands University in 1959 where he had served as the assistant baseball coach. He had a long career in education and served as a baseball coach at Saint Joseph's College (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Jemez Valley High School (Cañon, New Mexico), and Weslaco High School. While teaching in New Mexico at Jemez Valley High School, he met and married fellow teacher Marjorie Anne Hailey, the love of his life.
Cisco is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Petra Esteves; three siblings Martin Estevis, Maria De Jesus Esteves, and his twin sister, Francisca Cuevas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Marjorie Anne Estevis of Edinburg; three children Lee Anne (Paul) Wild of Victoria, MN, Maria Elena (Adrian) Sustaita, Frances Estevis, both of Edinburg; five grandchildren, Justin Wild, Jana Wild, Aaron Canul, Alyssa Anne Canul, Alex Canul; four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Wild, Avery Grace Wild, Tyler Kleemeyer, Avery Anne Canul; four siblings, Vicente Estevis, Ramon Estevis, Janie Estevis-Rodriguez, and Jose Cortez, all of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary today, January 13, 2021, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
