Martin Estevis

Edinburg- Martin Estevis, 86, of Edinburg died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at McAllen Medical Center.

He was born in Alamo, Texas, joined the United States Air Force, where he fought during WWII, and has lived in Edinburg for 42 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Petra Estevis.

Mr. Estevis is survived by his wife, Candelaria G. Estevis of Edinburg; a son, Jesus (Elva) Estevis of Edinburg; two daughters, Janie Estevis of Edinburg and Sylvia (John) Salazar of Alamo; four brothers, Vicente Estevis, Francisco Estevis, Ramon Estevis, and Jose Cortez; three sisters, Maria Jesusa Estevis, Francisca Cuevas, and Janie Rodriguez; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 14, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
