ERNESTO FERNANDEZ, JR. EDINBURG - Ernesto Fernandez, Jr., 78, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at McAllen Medical Center. Mr. Fernandez had lived in Edinburg all of his life and was a Chemistry teacher for 32 years at Edinburg High School. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Maria Cristina Fernandez; and two brothers, Horacio and Roberto Fernandez. Ernesto is survived by four siblings, Ana Maria Fernandez, Fernando Fernandez, Ricardo (Olivia) Fernandez, all of Edinburg, Maria Elena (Juan Manuel) Cantu of Brownsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
