Fidel Monroy Pineda, 80, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 25, 2024, in Edinburg.
Fidel was born on March 22, 1943, in Elsa, TX. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by many. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, charismatic ways, humbleness, and devotion to God. Fidel was a retiree of Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. where he worked for over 30 years. He also proudly served his country in the Unites States Army and Texas National Guard for over 20 years before his retirement from the service.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Petronilo and Carlota Pineda of Elsa; eight siblings, Dolores Villanueva, Damacio Trevino, Rutilo "Rudy" Pineda, Braulio Pineda, Andres Pineda, Herlinda Zepeda, David Pineda, and Irma Trad.
Fidel is survived by his loving wife, Eva Pineda of Edinburg; four children, Jorge (Lupita) Pineda of Denton, Sandra (Omar) Medina, Patricia (Robert) Garcia, Isaac (Denise) Pineda all of Edinburg, and eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and five siblings, Moises Pineda, Elvira Escobar, Israel Pineda, Ezequiel Pineda, and Ruben Pineda.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Pallbearers will be Jorge Pineda, Isaac Pineda, Robert Garcia, Frank Escobar, Diego Medina, and Luis Pineda. Honorary pallbearer is Isaiah Pineda.
Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
