ELEAZAR "CHARLIE" FLORES, SR. Eleazar "Charlie" Flores, Sr., 94, died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at his home. "Charlie" was born on February 26, 1920 and lived in Edinburg his whole life. He graduated from Edinburg High School in 1939 and attended Pan American College. Mr. Flores served in the Army during World War II. Upon his return to his home he started working at the Hidalgo County Courthouse in the capacity of Bailiff and Court Interpreter until he retired in 1985. Upon his retirement he continued working as a Notary Public and bookkeeper out of his home until 2006, where he helped in caring for his wife until she passed away in 2011. Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Maria (Saldana) Flores; a son, Raul Arnoldo “Roy” Flores, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Arya Esperanza Flores McCarthy; his parents, Guillermo Flores, Sr. and Feliciana (Alvarado) Flores; 13 siblings, Efrain Flores, Eliborio Flores, Francisca (Flores) Enriquez, Ernesto Loreto Flores, Amelia (Flores) Garcia, Guillermo Flores, Guillermina (Flores) Pina, Guillermina S. Flores, Guillermo Flores, Maria Elva Flores, Bersaida Flores, Rosendo Flores and Jesus Flores. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Eleazar “Charlie” (Clara) Flores, Jr., Oscar Rene Flores, Cristina Irene Flores, Beatriz Imelda Sanchez and Graciela Flores; 12 grandchildren, Eleazar “Charlie” Flores, III, Patricia Laura Salyers, Lisa Yvonne Flores McCarthy, Louis Gilbert Flores, Eduardo Raul Flores, Javier Omar Flores, Oscar Rene Flores, Bernardo Guillermo Flores, Raul Arnoldo Flores, Jr., Michael Charles Flores, Laura Ann Selvera and Erica Danielle Lowder; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Enrique Flores; two sisters, Enriqueta Villafuerte and Elma Zoyla Flores, all of Edinburg. Pallbearers will be his son, Oscar Rene Flores and his grandsons, Eleazar Charlie Flores, III, Javier Omar Flores, Oscar Rene Flores, Bernardo Guillermo Flores, Michael Charles Flores and Raul Arnoldo “Roy” Flores, Jr. The family of Eleazar C. Flores, Sr. wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. E. Linda Villarreal for her care and service as Mr. Flores’ primary physician. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2201 Martin St. in McAllen. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Military Honors will be conducted by Sgt. Benito Alaniz VFW Post 7473 of Elsa. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
