HONORE FLORES PHARR - Honore Flores, 85, who was known as "Papo" to his grandchildren , died Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Aurora House in Weslaco. Born in McAllen, he met Adela Longoria, fell head over heels in love, and were married on March 27, 1947. They made their home in Pharr for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II and was employed by Southwestern Bell for 36 years. If you got to know Honore Flores you would know that his greatest pride was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Ortiz; and his parents, Jorge and Rafaela Flores. Mr. Flores is survived by his wife, Adela Flores, of Pharr; three children, Thelma M. Balli, of Pharr, Richard Honore (Elia) Flores, of Edinburg, Roel "Robie" Flores, of Sharyland; ten grandchildren, Rogelio H. (Dendea)Balli, Melinda Y. Balli, Richard H. (Kelley) Flores Jr., Cindy Flores Trevino, Meagan Flores, Jaclyn Flores, Sofia Flores, Gustavo Flores, Gabriela Flores, Alejandro Flores; two great-grandchildren, Aisa Trevino, Belen Trevino; five sisters, Angelica Longoria, Angelina Perez, Lydia Armstrong, Rosie Serna, Julia Alaniz; and a brother, George (Emma) Flores. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, July 8, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 8788 of McAllen. Please join us in celebration of his life.
