MARIA ELENA FLORES
EDINBURG – Maria Elena Flores, 47, went home to our Heavenly Father, surrounded by her family and friends, on Monday, August 30, 2010, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born in McAllen, Mrs. Flores had lived in Edinburg all of her life. Mari was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend. She will be remembered by all who met and knew her as a strong and determined person who cared deeply for her friends and family. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. She was a graduate of 1982 from Edinburg High School. She was employed as an administrative assistant to Mr. Leo Montalvo for over 23 years. The family wishes to give special thanks to Mr. Leo Montalvo and the Firm of Montalvo & Ramirez Attorneys for all the help and support during Mari’s fight with cancer. She considered her co-workers her second family.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jose Angel Flores.
Mrs. Flores is survived by a daughter, Kristine Esquirel of Edinburg, her mother, Maria Del Socorro Flores of Edinburg; siblings, Emma (Harjeet Singh) Flores of League City, Texas, Jose Angel (Brenda) Flores, Jr. and Martha Lydia Flores both of Edinburg; a granddaughter, Dezirae Avila; nieces and nephews, Melissa Espinoza, Joanne, Jolissa, Joe Rangel, Joey and Gabby Flores.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. today, September 2, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Cremation will take place at a later date.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
