SOFIA FLOREZ EDINBURG - Sofia Florez, 61, died on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Florez was a lifetime resident of Edinburg,TX. Her greatest joy was her husband and three daughters. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Sofia is preceded in death by her parents, Candido and Maria Alfaro; and a nephew, Rolando Alfaro. She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Fidel Florez, of Edinburg; three daughters, Mirta Liza Florez, Marissa Annette Florez, both of Edinburg, and Vanessa Seline Florez, of Houston, TX; two brothers, Humberto Alfaro and Julio Alfaro, both of Edinburg; five sisters, Jesusa (Carlos) Lopez, Gloria (Javier) Guzman, Elena Alfaro, San Juanita (Tony) Garza and Beatriz (Joe) Rodriguez, all of Edinburg; numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary was held Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Homein Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today, August 17, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
