Edinburg - Severa Ponce Galicia, 94, died Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Mrs. Ponce was born March 12, 1917 in Edinburg, Texas. In August 1934 she married Francisco Galicia in Goliad, Texas. She spent many years in Goliad and Tulare, California and was a member of Templo Bethel in Edinburg since 1934.
She is preceded in death by her father, Eubaldo Ponce, of Rio Grande City, Texas; her mother, Marcelina Torres, of Laguna Seca Ranch in Edinburg, Texas; four sisters, Dolores Ponce Vera, of Goliad, Texas, Rosa Ponce Deanda, San Juanita Ponce Rios, both of Lubbock, Texas, Julia Ponce Hernandez, of Abernathy, Texas; and a brother, Juan Ponce, of Abernathy, Texas.
Mrs. Ponce is survived by a son, Noe Galicia, of Edinburg; a sister, Maria Ponce Gomez, of Michigan; a brother, Rev. Eubaldo Ponce Jr., of Dallas, Texas; and over 400 nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm prayer service today, August 15, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 am Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Templo Bethel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
