ANGELICA CHRISTINA GALLAGA
EDINBURG – Angelica Christina Gallaga, 23, was surrounded by love and held by her parents as she entered eternal rest Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Angelica was special needs and disabled, yet she had so many abilities. She had the ability to inspire others to try harder because they saw the challenges she had to overcome. She taught others how to be happy because she took joy in simple things; a look, a smile, and a touch. She couldn’t do many things that most people take for granted. She could not walk, yet she traveled many places. She could not talk, yet she influenced many people. She was truly an angel that had many medical challenges and was never able to speak yet she was so powerful. She was able to demonstrate the purest love and was strong enough to bring together total strangers that would become family. She was the example of perseverance and inner strength, as she continued to fight battles in health and limitations. She showed us what it is to be strong, because strength is not just found in being the biggest, the toughest, or the fastest. Strength is found in one who keeps going, keeps trying, day after day, long after others give up. Through her vulnerabilities, she gave us the gift of insight and showed us things we might otherwise have missed. Angelica gave us the gift of perspective. She reminded us to be grateful for what we have and to savor the beautiful moments we have every day. She taught us about kindness and patience and to love without condition in the most beautiful and purest form of love. She gave us the gift of unconditional love. To love even when it hurts and when it’s not easy. She taught us how to love without words, without limits, without reasons. She gave us the gift of beauty. To see past the difficulties and find the beauty in everything we do. She lived life and she was loved.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Roberto “Robby” Gallaga Jr.; and maternal grandfather, Dr. Moises S. Chapa.
Angelica is survived by her parents, Loretta C. (Eli) Gonzalez of Edinburg, Roberto Gallaga of Harlingen; maternal grandmother, Viola Chapa Valdes of Edinburg; paternal grandparents, Ricardo and Evangelina Gallaga of Harlingen; maternal step-grandparents, Eloy and Elma Gonzalez of Edinburg; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
