RAQUEL GALVAN SAN JUAN – Raquel Galvan, 66, died Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Solara Hospital in McAllen. She was born in San Juan and had lived there all of her life. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Miss Galvan is preceded in death by her parents, Patricio and Carmen Galvan; and a brother, Rene Galvan. Raquel is survived by five sisters, Margarita (Benjamin) Avila, Sr., of Pharr, Maria Luisa (Victor) Reyes, Sr., of Laredo, Esther (Juan) Nuñez, of Austin, Texas, Guadalupe (Genaro) Acosta, Sr., of San Juan, Carmen (Felipe) Lucio, of Chicago, Illinois; three brothers, Ismael (Carmen) Galvan, of Panora, Iowa, Manuel Galvan, of San Juan, Samuel (Blanca) Galvan, of Houston; sisters-in-law, Ernestina Galvan, of San Juan, Gloria Bertha Galvan of Chicago, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, May 21, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
