Abelino Garcia, 80, died on Tuesday, April 25, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his son Abelino Garcia Jr.; his parents, Martina and Apolonio Garcia; two brothers, Pablo Mendoza, Lalo Mendoza; and a sister, Maria Elena "Nena" Palacios.
Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Antonia Garcia; two sons, Apolonio (Melissa) Garcia, Abel Garcia; eight daughters, Berta (David) Rubio, Melinda (Adolfo) Solis, Ida (Sammy) Mares, Diana (Louie) De Luna, Evangelina (†Jerry) Enriquez, Maria Elena (†Armando) Torres, Yolanda (Greg) Lara, Angie (†Felipe) Garcia; a brother, Cruz Garcia; two sisters, Juana Trevino, Eva Reyna; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m, with a 6 p.m. rosary Sunday, April 30, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2023, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7473 of Elsa.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
