Born in Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Garcia had lived in McAllen most of her life.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Peter Chico and Xavier Garcia; her parents, Trinidad and Jovita Cervantes.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Gilberto Garcia, of McAllen; a daughter, Stephanie (Pedro) Garcia; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, all of McAllen; three siblings, Maria Avalos, of Chicago Illinois, Manuel Cervantes, of McAllen, and David Cervantes, of Chicago, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, March 10, 2012, and from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2012, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
