ESIQUIA GARCIA CUEVAS
ALAMO — Esiquia Garcia Cuevas, 84, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen surrounded by her sons and daughters in her final hours. Esiquia was born November 18, 1931 in Alamo to Isaac and Eusebia Garcia. She was a lifelong resident of Alamo and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ascencion Diaz Cuevas, both of her parents, and two brothers, Santana Garcia and Alejandro Garcia.
She is survived by her eleven, children: Ramon (Diana) Cuevas, Anita Cuevas, Francisco (Elma) Cuevas, Guadalupe (Irineo) Hinojosa, Rojelio (Melinda) Cuevas, Juanita (Fidel) Saldana, Matilde (Noe) Lopez, Teresa (Eloy) Hernandez, Ricardo (Maxine) Cuevas, Martin (Elisa) Cuevas, and Cynthia Michelle Cuevas; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margarita Flores of Tennessee and Maria Castro of Lubbock, Texas.
We want to thank family and friends that have joined us in our hour of loss, especially those that came from San Antonio, Oklahoma, and Ohio. The family would like thank Centro D'Amistad Adult Day Care Center and Dr. Max Hernandez for the care and respect shown to her.
She will be remembered as a loving, caring, wife, mother and grandmother. We will miss her dearly but she will live forever in our hearts and we are comforted with the knowledge that she is rejoicing in the presence of Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
