DANIEL “EL INDIO” GARCIA, JR. PREMONT – Daniel “El Indio” Garcia Jr., 55, died Monday, November 17, 2014, at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio. Born in Rio Grande City, he was formerly of the northern Edinburg area and had lived in Premont for 19 years. He was employed by the Corpus Christi Division of the USDA as a wildlife specialist in Jim Wells County for 19 years. Daniel was a great husband, father and brother; he leaves many family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by a sister, Blanca Estella Garcia; and his parents, Daniel Sr. and Rosa Garcia. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Leticia Garcia, of Premont; two sons, Daniel (Ana Isabel) Garcia III, of Premont, Joseph Anthony (Jessica) Garcia, of Falfurrias; two sisters, Maria Elena (Juan) Anguiano, Linda (Ricardo) Mireles, both of Corpus Christi; and a brother, Mario Alonzo (Veronica) Garcia, of Falfurrias. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at, 10 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2014, at St. Anne’s Chapel in San Manuel. Interment will follow at El Nino Jesus de Praga Cemetery in La Noria Ranch. Pallbearers will be Ricardo Mireles, Juan Anguiano, Esteban Garza, Ramon Ramirez, J.R. Anguiano, Jesus Garcia and Javier Garcia. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Bachelder, Pete Guerrero, Mario Garcia, Luis Bazan and Horacio Garcia Jr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
