ESTEBAN GARCIA JR. SAN JUAN - Esteban Garcia Jr., 64, died peacefully with his wife at his side early Saturday morning, May 18, 2013. He was born in Mission and raised in McAllen, Texas. Mr. Garcia retired from education after 32 years of dedicated service with both the PSJA and Mission school districts along with The Texas Youth Commission. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing pool with his friends, BBQ’ing and spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed greatly by his family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ernestina Canales; a brother, Jose Eduardo (Odilia) Garcia; his mother in law, Isidora Salinas; and sister in law, Maria Elena Garcia. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Anita G. Garcia, of San Juan; three daughters, Rosanna (Scot) Shepard, of Pearland, Illeanna (Ray) Aguirre, of San Juan, Adriana (Bill) Searcy, of San Antonio; two granddaughters, Alynna and Jordanna Shepard, both of Pearland; two grandsons, Tristan and Tyler Aguirre, both of San Juan; his sister, Elda Eunice (Mr. Faz) Cardenas; and his brothers, Jose Edin (Janie) Garcia, Jose Eli (Donna) Garcia, and Eriberto (Socorro) Garcia; his father, Esteban Garcia Sr.,; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. His family would like to thank his sister, Elda, and his sister-in-law, Odilia, for their constant support and assistance to the family during his final days. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7pm rosary Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
