GILBERTO OZUNA GARCIA EDINBURG - Gilberto Ozuna Garcia, 74, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday, September 21, 2015. Mr. Garcia was born in Edinburg and had lived there all of his life. Gilberto was the founder of Los Dos Gilbertos, the leader and accordion player for the band. During his 45 year career as a musician, he and Los Dos Gilbertos were awarded with many distinguished musical awards, his last was being nominated for a Latin Grammy Award. His music was loved by many, and his legacy will live forever. Long live Los Dos Gilbertos! He is preceded in death by his parents, Venustiano and Sarah Garica; a sister, Lydia Hernandez; and a brother, Ruben Garcia. Gilberto is survived by his wife, Lucia Luna Garcia of Edinburg; two sons, Gilberto Garcia, Jr., Homer (Zaida) Garcia, both of Edinburg; three daughters, Minerva (Felipe) Ynfanta, Mari Garcia, Blanca Garcia, all of Edinburg; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, Anselmo Garcia of Edinburg; six sisters, Fidela Hernandez, Consuelo Rios, Esperanza Luna, Olivia Salinas, Olga Badillo, Eva Silva, all of Edinburg. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg is in charge of arrangements.
