GILBERTO BUENTELLO GARCIA ALTON – Gilberto Buentello Garcia, 64, died Friday, August 14, 2015 in New Braunfels. Born in Coahuila Mexico, Mr. Garcia had lived in Alton most of his life. He was a very active member of San Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Alton where he served as an usher. He was a handyman and enjoyed carpentry. Mr. Garcia was an animal lover who enjoyed taking care of all his animals. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Garcia; and a step-son, Andres Sanchez. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of 20 years , Hilda Pacheco Sanchez of Alton; a daughter, Ana (Juan Carlos) Escalera of Sullivan City; eight step-children, Nora (Rolando) Castellano, of Edinburg, Jesus Sanchez of Mission, Bertha Sanchez, Sandra Sanchez (Gerardo Castillo), Dalia Sanchez (Rodrigo Ventura), all of McAllen, Agustin (Anissa) Sanchez of Mission, Zulema Sanchez and Armando Sanchez, both of Alton; 24 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his mother, Julia Buentello of Laredo; nine siblings, Jose Luis Garcia B., Santa Leticia Garcia B., Juan Manuel Garcia B., Juan Carlos Garcia B. Lupita Garcia B., Ramon B. (Silvia Guerrero) Garcia, Ana Julia Garcia (David D.) Vasquez, Martin (Amy Hinojosa) Garcia, Gabriela Garcia (Eliazar) Flores; and 12 nieces and nephews, Osvaldo, Jocelyn, Amy, Karen, Jose Martin, Karla, Martin Eleazar, Jose Luis, Eliud, Kathelyn, Katherine and Patricia. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen. Pallbearers will be Ramon Garcia B., Martin Garcia B., Isair Osvaldo Garcia B., Eliazar Flores C. David Vasquez D. and Juan Carlos Escalera. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
