ALAMO - Petra Y. Garcia, 71, died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Mexico, Mrs. Garcia had lived in Alamo most of her life and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo.
She is preceded in death by a son, Amador Garcia; her parents, Jesus and Bernarda Ybarra; two brothers, Jose Guadalupe and Teodoro Ybarra; and two sisters, Maria Inez Sarmiento and Maria Mercedes Fulcher.
Mrs. Garcia is survived by her husband, Alejandro Garcia of Alamo; fours sons, Jesus (Yolanda) Sanchez of Edinburg, Humberto Garcia, Roel (Sandra) Garcia, both of Alamo and Alejandro (Sylvia) Garcia, Jr. of Tucson, Arizona; five daughters, Yolanda Sanchez, Maria Elena (Armando) Cobos, both of McAllen, Belia (Eddie) Salazar of Pharr, Celia Garcia of Fort Worth, Texas and Veronica (Juan) Rivera of San Juan; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary, today, July 21, 2009 at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
