REFUGIO JOSE GARCIA PHARR – Refugio Jose Garcia, 84, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital. Mr. Garcia was born on March 3, 1929, in Sugarland, Texas and lived in Pharr all of his life. He worked as a crew leader in numerous states, including Idaho and Ohio. In the latter part of his life he was a long distance truck driver. He is preceded in death by two sons, Juan Refugio Garcia and Gilberto Garza, Jr.; and two brothers, Jesus Garcia and Humberto Garcia. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edecia Garza Garcia; 14 children, Refugio (Teresa) Garcia, Jr., Gilbert (Fe) Garcia Garza, Telesforo (Rosa) Garcia, Salvador (Dolores) Garcia, Minerva (Ernesto) Soto, Norma (Roberto) Gonzalez, Edecia (Raul) Loera, Ricardo (Rosario) Garcia, Javier (Aida) Garcia, Fidel Garcia, Joel (Mary) Garcia, Mario (Noelia) Garcia, Lupe (Gloria) Garcia and Robert (Janie) Garcia; two sisters, Carmela Garcia and Lola Garcia; two brothers, Carlos Garcia and Ricardo Garcia; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 15, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Pharr. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
