ALICIA L. GARZA ALAMO – God has opened up the gates of heaven for Alicia L. Garza on Monday, December 29, 2014, to welcome her home at the age of 87. She was born in Robstown, TX and had lived in Alamo most of her life and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Amancio T. Garza; a grandson, SGT. Eric Edmundo Farias; a son, Horacio Garza, Sr.; and her parents, Jose Maria and Josefina Lopez. Mrs. Garza is survived by her eight children, Amancio (Rebecca) Garza, Jr. of Alamo, Antolin (Irma) Garza of McAllen, Humberto (Olivia) Garza of Alamo, Diana G. (Edmundo) Farias, Jr. of McAllen, Estela (Ronnie Al) Alcantar of Alamo, Josie (+Mike) Villarreal of Weslaco, Rogelio (Blanca) Garza of Pharr, and Olga (Fred) Martinez of Edinburg; 20 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. We are left to cherish in our hearts a wealth of fond memories as she inspired us with her strength, her positive attitude and perseverance in life. Alicia was a submissive loving wife, a dedicated mother, a loving grandmother and great grandmother who always instilled in our minds strong ethics and morals. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Having the distinguished honor of serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons: David Nelson Alcantar, Edgar X. Farias, Antolin A. Garza, Horacio Garza, Jr., Jaime H. Garza, and Rogelio Garza, Jr. The family wishes to extend a very special “Thank You” to the staff at Las Palmas Healthcare Center in McAllen. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 5 to 9 p.m. with, a 7 p.m. rosary Friday, January 2, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
