AMPARO S. GARZA EDINBURG - Amparo S. Garza, 98, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Arbor View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Jarachinas Ranch, TX, Mrs. Garza had lived in La Joya most of her life. Amparo was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She practiced her faith by reading the bible and praying the rosary very frequently. Amparo always accepted her trials and tribulations with patience, and never complained about the sacrifices she had to make. Especially those that came with the sudden death of her two sons, Eduardo and Jose Carmen, and her grandson, Jose Luis. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Garza Zamora; a daughter, Aida Anita Lopez; two sons, Jose Carmen Garza and Eduardo Garza; and her parents, Jorge and Andrea Salinas. Amparo is survived by six children, Maria Rita (Eloy) Carrales, Juan Lino (Lillian C.) Garza, Elma G. (+Esteban) Cantu, Guadalupe (Guadalupe S.) Garza, Romulo (Maria Elena) Garza, Eduardo (Felicitas) Garza; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Saragosa Salinas; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, May 1, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Los Caballos Cemetery in Falfurrias, TX. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
