ARACELI C. GARZA
PHARR – Araceli C. Garza, 54, died April 6, 2017, at Edinburg Regional Hospital in Edinburg.
Araceli was born in Raymondville, and lived in Pharr most of her life.
She was a dedicated educator at Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary for 18 years. Throughout her years as an educator she was an outstanding elementary teacher and secondary mother to all of her students. She poured her heart and soul into her work and greatly looked forward to teaching and being with her students daily. She was an outstanding educator, was always available to assist her peers with anything necessary. She will be greatly missed by her colleagues, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerardo and Amelia Cruz; and a brother, Eluid Cruz.
Araceli is survived by her husband, Rolando Garza; a son, Jose “JJ” Garza; a daughter, Veronica “Ronnie” Garza, all of Pharr; six brothers, Eladio Cruz, Fernando Cruz both of Raymondville, Eloy Cruz of Edinburg, Eddie Cruz and Gerardo Cruz both of Mission and Edmundo Cruz of El Paso; three sisters, Maria Huerta of Austin, Carol Reyes and Janie Rivas both of Raymondville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. service, Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr. A reception will take place at Memorial Event Center in Edinburg.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
