BERTHA GARZA EDINBURG - Bertha Garza, 40, died Friday, December 6, 2013 in Edinburg. Born in Memphis, TX, Ms. Garza had lived in Edinburg all of her life. Bertha was employed with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office for 13 years and worked at Wal-Mart for 18 years. Bertha was a hard working dedicated and selfless person, who always went out of her way to help anyone in need. She loved to bake, cook and always wanted to go out of her way to make all celebrations something extraordinary to remember for her friends and family. Bertha will be deeply missed but will always be in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Reynaldo and Genoveva Garza; maternal grandfather, Irineo Maldonado; aunt, Olga Aguirre; and cousin, Kristy Maldonado. Bertha is survived by her parents, Alejandro and Gloria Garza; two sisters, Belinda (Rafael) Madrigal and Monica (Joe) Sanchez; a nephew, Richard Madrigal; maternal grandmother, Diamantina Maldonado; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; best friend, Mario Hernandez. The Garza family would like to give thanks to Dr. Luis Reyes for his Dedication and Commitment in trying to save Bertha's life. They would also like to thank Sheriff Guadalupe Trevino, his command staff, all sheriff's office employees and the Texas Department of Public Safety for all the support and prayers that were extended in our family's time of need. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, December 10, 2013 and Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
