SAN JUAN - Candelaria “Chela” Rutledge Garza 81, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
Born in Pharr, Mrs. Garza had lived in San Juan most of her life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Humberto “Beto” Garza.
Mrs. Garza is survived by two daughters, Ofilia “Fili” Garza of San Juan, Melba G. (Joe) Garcia of Pharr; a son, Roel “Robi” Garza, of McAllen; and a granddaughter, Dianey “Dey” Garcia, of Pharr.
Vistation will be held from 5 to 9 pm, with a 7 pm rosary Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will be at 10 am Friday, May 20, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Pallbearers will be Rufino Garza Jr., Jaime Garcia, Johnny Garza, Caleb Garza, Armando Garza, and Rolando Garza. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Ramon and Roger Ramon.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
