Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather Nestor Garza Jr., 89, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Amara Hospice in Edinburg.
Born in El Capote, Texas, Mr. Garza was a lifelong resident of Pharr and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Waiting for him at the golden gates of heaven are his parents, Nestor Sr. and Escela Garza; two brothers, Roberto Garza, Guillermo Garza; and two sisters, Juanita Garcia and Elena Robles.
Mr. Garza is survived by the love of his life and wife of 62 years, Esperanza P. Garza; five children, Nestor Garza III, Raul (Rebeca) Garza, Maricela (Javier) Cortez, Graciela G. Vela, Roberto (Elizabeth) Garza, all of Pharr; 14 grandchildren, Vianey, Christian, Matthew, Justin, Alyssa, Meagan, Catherine, Michelle, Gabrian, Nestor, Andrea, Jacquelin, Cody and Victoria; a great-granddaughter, Emery; and a brother, Ruben Garza of Pharr.
Nestor married the love of his life, Esperanza P. Garza on November 27, 1955 and continued to shower his queen with love until the day of his passing. Papa Garza as he was affectionately called by his loved ones, was a great example to his children, grandchildren and anyone who came to know him. A mentor to all, education was the highest of his priorities for his family & he worked hard to ensure that all educational goals were achieved by his children. Mr. Garza has left a legacy of love & respect that will continue to flourish.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 12 noon Monday, February 19, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Pharr, the same church where he wed his beautiful bride 62 years ago. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
