MARIA DEL AMPARO GARZA EDINBURG - Maria Del Amparo Garza, 74, died Friday, October 31, 2014, at Arbor View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Edinburg. Born in Edinburg, she had lived there all of her life and was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Edinburg and Cornerstone Church in McAllen. She is preceded in death by two sons, Jaime Garza and Joe Garza; a grandson, Jeramie Espinoza; a sister, Consuelo Garza; her parents, Alfredo Ramos and Reyes Trevino; and an aunt who raised her, Maria Ramos. Mrs. Garza is survived by her husband, Abelino O. Garza; nine children, Enriqueta (Guadalupe) Gonzalez, Alfredo (Patricia) Garza, Sylvia (Gabriel) Espinoza, Alicia (Ricardo) Garcia, David Garza, Maria Elena (Jose Angel) Sanchez, all of Edinburg, Abelino (Ana) Garza Jr., of Victoria, Ricardo Garza, of Houston and Raquel (Juan) Gonzalez, of Germany; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three stepbrothers, Marcos Trevino and Agapito Trevino Jr., both of Friona, Texas, Rafael Trevino Sr. of Edinburg; and two stepsisters, Oralia T. Gonzales and Eva Guerra, both of Edinburg. Maria was a loving, caring mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who loved her. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Arbor View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Allstate Hospice and Dr. Raul Martinez and staff for the care given to Mrs. Garza. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
