MARIA G. “LUPITA” DE LA GARZA ALAMO – Maria G. “Lupita” De La Garza, 53, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg. She is preceded in death by her father, Arturo De La Garza; and two brothers, Ricardo and Emilio De La Garza. Lupita is survived by her companion, Ernesto Vargas Jr.; three children, Damacio Reyes Jr. and Gary Reyes, both of Alamo, Brenda Lee Herebia, of Mission; six grandchildren; her mother, Tomasa C. De La Garza, of Alamo; five sisters, Belia Escobar, of McAllen, Elda Ysquierdo and Sinibia Maldonado, both of Alamo, Romelia Fulton, of San Antonio, Berenis De La Garza, of Austin; and two brothers, Nicanor De La Garza and Arturo De La Garza Jr., both of Alamo. Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 5, 2014, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna. Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
