Noé GARZA
EDINBURG - Noé Garza, 72, died Monday, January 9, 2012, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Garza was born in San Juan and had lived in Edinburg for the last 18 years. In 1965 he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1984, he established a civil and structural engineering business, Noé Garza Engineers, Inc. Mr. Garza served on the Edinburg C.I.S.D. School Board for several years. In 2003 he was elected Councilman for the City of Edinburg and was currently serving his third term.
Mr. Garza had been a leader and participated in the following groups and organizations:

•Member of the Water Environment Federation
•Past Vice President of the Edinburg Independent School District
•Edinburg Representative for the Rio Grande Metropolitan Planning Organization
•State Director of TSPE, Rio Grande Valley Chapter
•Chairman of the TSPE Scholarship Committee, RGV
•Lifetime Member of the Ex-Student Association of the University of Texas
Mr. Garza is survived by four children, Lizza Moya, of Dallas, Texas, Lori Garza of Edinburg, John Robert Garza, of Wylie, Texas; Michael Noe Garza, of Edinburg, a granddaughter, Ava Renee Garza; his mother, Carolina De La Rosa, of San Juan; two sisters, Alicia Garza and Lydia Garza-Garcia, both of San Juan; two brothers, Feliberto Garza, of San Juan, Reynaldo Garza, of Hanford, California ; and companion, Blanca Guzman, of San Juan.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Celebration of Life Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Sacred Heart Parish, 215 N. 16th Avenue, Edinburg, Texas 78541. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg. Reception and gathering will be held following the funeral service at Edinburg City Hall, 415 W. University Drive.
